MP Al-Madi: “MPs’ Services” discuss the “Scholarships and Grants” Law
The Committee on Services, chaired by MP Abbas Al-Madi, discussed the report of the committee regarding a draft bill to amend Article (43) of the regulation of retirement pensions and bonuses for the officers and members of the Bahrain Defense Force and Public Security promulgated by Legislative Decree No. (11) Of 1976. The Committee decided to continue the discussion in the Committee’s future meetings.
The Committee also reviewed a draft bill to amend Article (144) of the Social Insurance Law promulgated by Legislative Decree No. (24) Of 1976, and a draft bill to amend Article (77) of Law No. (13) Of 1975 concerning the organization of retirement pensions and bonuses for government employees. The Committee decided to discuss both projects at the next Committee meeting.
After the meeting, Al-Madi stated that the committee discussed the proposed bill regarding the law on study scholarships, grants and aids for higher education. He pointed out that the Committee had reviewed the views of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the Civil Service Bureau, the Mumtalakat Holding Company, in addition to the view of the legal consultant of Committee affairs. The Committee decided to submit the report to the Bureau of the Council in preparation for its presentation at the future sittings of the Representatives.
Al-Madi added that the Committee discussed the proposed bill to allocate a joint hotline between (the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Works, Municipal Affairs and Urban Planning, and the Labor Market Regulatory Authority) to report violations related to collective or joint housing in the residential areas, and the work of foreigners and foreign employers who do not have work permits issued in accordance with the provisions of the law, or persons with expired residence permits in the Kingdom. After reviewing the views of the parties concerned, the Committee decided to submit the report to the Bureau of the Council.
